Out with the old....Make room for the new...

Everyone could use a closet edit. I tend to edit my closet just about every 6 months. Our lives are constantly changing, and our wardrobe should reflect that.

Many women are curious as to what a closet edit entails. Therefore, I had my handy photographer, Lauren Branch, come to a closet edit with me so I could show you!

When I start to edit, I take a good look at your set up to see how well your closet is functioning. Where are your problem areas? What items are there too much of and do we need to move anything?

I move onto organizing your tops by sleeve length and color coordinating them.

Consider the weather first when selecting an outfit. While doing this, I examine each piece starting with flaws, design style and age appropriateness for the client. If everything checks out it stays, if not bye bye.

Next are the third pieces. These could be anything from cardigans to coats. The space available in the closet will determine whether these are organized by style or color coordinated.

Okay ladies let’s talk about your pant collections; i.e. jeans. Oftentimes I come across clients owning the exact same wash and style jean in 3 or more pairs. I get it, you love jeans. I lovvvvvvvve jeans! However, I get them in different styles, washes and colors and mix it up. I would love to educate you on the different styles you could bring into your wardrobe.

I like to store my jeans folded in a drawer. If you have the space, hang them with a velvet hanger over the knee where the body naturally bends. This is a great way to quickly see what you have.

Accessories...Please no more bins of shoes. There are door hangers, shoe stands, wall hangers, closet shelves, etc. I promise there is a solution aside from the shoe bin. This applies to handbags as well. I find hooks to be a convenient way to store handbags.

Personal shopper, wardrobe consultant, spring fashion, styleup

As I go through your closet, I begin teaching you all about your good and less desirable items, which colors are enhancing your look, and which aren’t. I also take into consideration the design and style of the item. I'll let you know where you are doing well and where you could improve or maybe eliminate certain items from your wardrobe.

Outfit Styling: Outfit styling is everyone's favorite part. Who doesn't love new outfits?

Now that I know every wonderful inch of your closet, I can make some new combinations for you to wear. These combinations will be stored in your phone for an easy future reference.

Finally, the finished product. A newly organized, de-cluttered closet. Making your mornings so much easier. Now you can step up your style and Improve Your Message!
