Spring is just around the corner with warm weather, bright colors and vibrant fashions on the rise. And I am so ready for it. Winter is absolutely beautiful; a thick white layer of snow will always bring a huge smile to my face. Well… as long as the house heater is on top of its game. But after a long winter, I can hear my bright pumps and flats screaming my name. So my friends, what did fashions finest bring us this season?
Believe it or not your favorite part of fall has now come to spring! Sorry it’s not boots. Layering will be the thing to do. I was super excited to see this. One of my main points with clients is layering, and now there’s no escaping it! (Muhaha!)
To achieve this look, start with a neutral bottom. Pair the bottom with a simple light colored or cream top. Add a 3rd piece (a blazer or cardigan) that either color compliments or matches your top or pant. If you’re feeling dressy, grab a bold floral blazer and top with a scarf. If you need some advice on mixing prints, see the “Let’s talk patterns” piece in my Blog.

Many of the runway looks featured ruffles in their layered looks. Ruffles will be everywhere this spring. As an image consultant I either find ruffles to be extremely useful or terribly damaging to a woman’s figure. Ruffles will always alter your figure. I use ruffles to create volume in certain areas of the body if needed. If you have an hourglass shape, I suggest you steer clear unless you are looking to make a fashion statement at the expense of your figure. Layering provides a great opportunity to play with different colors and patterns in your outfits. Remember fashion is supposed to be fun and a great way to express yourself. I hope you enjoy this fun trend as much as I do.

Another favorite trend coming our way is yellow. Some people get freaked out by yellow. I love yellow! It's vibrant, warm and fills me with joy. Who doesn't want create those feelings with their outfit. I plan on filling my closet with yellow this season. Yellow pairs wonderfully with denim in any shade; yellow greens, reds, oranges and even cobalt blue. For business attire, try pairing a yellow blouse with a white blazer, or some yellow trousers with a bright green blazer and a black top. There are many wonderful combinations just waiting to be made.

Neutrals showed up a lot on the runways. As much as I love to use color, If you’re looking to create a chic outfit, using all neutrals is the way to go. Below I decided to mix up my neutrals, don't be afraid to do a whole outfit in different neutrals. You can even use different shades of the same color. They don't have to be exactly the same.

Last but certainly not least, The Utility Look. Oohh I am so excited to bring out my utility and military influenced pieces. Shopping for a great utility pant is a hard one. But I believe I found the perfect one at Walla Walla Clothing Co in Meridian.
Putting a large pocket on your body is going to add weight. But these pants are flawless. To make the most of your money, I suggest investing in a utility jacket. It is a classic style for spring and looks amazing with jeans. Unfortunately, the utility look is strictly weekend wear unless you work in fashion. If you do work in fashion, I highly recommend buying a fitted utility dress.
There you have it. These are my favorite trends for Spring 2019! Only invest in a trend that truly compliments you. I never let my clients’ clothes wear them. You wear the clothes. You are the main feature. Love your style, love how you look every day!

I look forward to open toed shoes....also known as my flip flops, lol! And my light and flowy kimonos!
